Le 14 juin 1985, à bord du M.S. Marie Astrid, les cinq pays fondateurs – le Luxembourg, la Belgique, les Pays-Bas, la France et l'Allemagne – ont signé l'accord permettant la suppression des contrôles aux frontières intérieures en Europe. Ce moment a jeté les bases de la libre circulation des personnes et des marchandises dans l'espace Schengen. Pour commémorer cette journée historique, des festivités auront lieu le samedi 14 juin 2025 à Schengen, à l’invitation du Vice-Premier ministre Xavier Bettel et du bourgmestre de la commune de Schengen, Michel Gloden, en présence de LL.AA.RR. le Grand-Duc et la Grande-Duchesse ainsi que de représentants officiels du gouvernement. 🇬🇧 14 June 2025 marks the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Schengen Agreement – a key moment in the history of the European Union. On 14 June 1985, aboard the M.S. Marie Astrid, the five founding countries – Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, and Germany – signed the agreement that paved the way for the removal of internal border controls in Europe. This laid the foundation for the free movement of people and goods within the Schengen Area. To commemorate this historic day, celebrations will take place on Saturday, 14 June 2025 in Schengen, at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister Xavier Bettel and the Mayor of the Municipality of Schengen, Michel Gloden, in the presence of TRH the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess, as well as official government representatives. 🇩🇪 Der 14. Juni 2025 markiert den 40. Jahrestag der Unterzeichnung des Schengener Abkommens – ein Schlüsselmoment in der Geschichte der Europäischen Union. Am 14. Juni 1985 unterzeichneten die fünf Gründungsstaaten – Luxemburg, Belgien, die Niederlande, Frankreich und Deutschland – an Bord der M.S. Marie Astrid das Abkommen, das die Abschaffung der Binnengrenzkontrollen in Europa ermöglichte. Damit wurde der Grundstein für den freien Personen- und Warenverkehr im Schengen-Raum gelegt.
